Hop On Free Central Area Transit (CAT)

MPPP Rapid Penang CAT(Central Area Transit) is a free shuttle bus service that ply the streets of George Town. It was launched on Friday, 23 January, 2009. MPPP or Majlis Perbadanan Pulau Pinang is Penang's Town Council. Rapid Penang is a private bus company. The collaboration between the local council and bus company for the benefits of local tourism.

There are a total of 19 stops which will take you from Weld Quay, near the Penang Ferry Termninal, to Penang Road. Covering the core and buffer zones of George Town Unesco World Heritage Site. The Hop On Free Central Area Transit (CAT) ply the route between Weld Quay Jetty and Komtar on 15-minute intervals from 6am-12 midnight.

The Central Area Transit free bus service is to facilitate the tour of the heritage city of George Town. Remember you need to walk out of the bus stop to explore the area around the bus stops. A walking tour is the best way to visit Penang old city; not only walking, eating street food and exploring their taste is another challenging experience in the tour; talking to the Penang people in the old city, enjoy the friendly conversation and enjoy the slang of the Penang lang lah....
